Round Helmet!!!

Round Helmet!!!

I saw "3 Idiots" movie and was very much moved by the screenplay and story. Laughable thought (for me and though this may not be so for anybody else) came into my mind when I saw the movie. It is nothing related to the story-line. And you may have a smile on your face or feel silly about my thought, if I mention what it was!!!

It was the red helmet which the heroine of the movie wears when she was riding the scooter. There is no big fun in that helmet. However, I have not seen people wearing this kind of round helmet any part of Tamil Nadu and of most of the cities, I visited outside Tamil Nadu.

Bangalore and Mangalore are the two places where I have seen round helmet! I am using the word round helmet, because, the word (round helmet) and the structure of the helmet feels like laughing!!! I saw this helmet in very old movies. However the recent style has changed!! But people in Bangalore and Mangalore use this kind of helmet!!

To understand the reason, I have inquired couple of my friends about this and I did not get convincing reply!!! Waiting for someone to answer me "Why this kind of helmet is used?" though this is one of the styles and of-course protection is also achieved!!!

Portrayal of Kolkatta in Kahaani - Movie Shot very well!

Portrayal of Kolkatta in Kahaani - Movie Shot very well!

Many of the Hindi movies revolve around Mumbai or Delhi. Recent days movies' stories are chosen to be in abroad as well. I started seeing Hindi movies couple of years ago. Of all the Hindi movies, I have seen, Kahaani is one such movies where conventional location is not chosen. I meant Delhi or Mumbai is not chosen.

Most of the scenes are shot in Kolkatta. I would say except for couple of scenes, rest of them are in Kolkatta

I have been to Kolkatta couple of years ago. My friend once told me to pull out some time at late night to walk around the places and admire the beauty of night, beauty of location....!

1. I remember seeing "Kaali", Goddess face almost in every shops. I did not get a chance to go to the temple, though. But the face of her shown in the movie exactly taken me back couple of years ago. Though I have not seen "Durga Pooja" celebrated at Kolkatta on the eve of Navratri, I have seen the glimpse of same in the movie.

2. Tram: People of India can never forget Tram! And people who have been to Kolkatta will always want to go for a short trip in the tram. I also liked and like to go. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to go around in tram. However, I got a chance to see them for long time going on road. To remind us, that the movie is shot in Kolkatta, tram was shown were the police inspector sits and travels. It was not much direct importance given though, and it is understood.

3. Howrah bridge: Howrah bridge is one of the iconic landmarks of Kolkatta and also called as Rabindra Setu. Though, I did not go there, I just glanced the bridge when I was there. There was also a Tamil Movie in which Surya acted, where Howrah bridge was shown. The bridge was shown for a long time and a comedy scene was also shot there in Tamil Movie "Adhavan". A commercial movie typically uses the famous place for shoot and it emphasis in the movie indirectly that the scene was shot there. However, in some of the new-age cinema, the shots will just move around and much of emphasis wont be there. I felt the same in "Kahaani". That was a good scene.

4. Police uniform: I have been to few of cities in India and I have noticed that almost all the states' police men have Khaki color as their uniform. Unlike in Kolkatta where the police men wear white color shirt (with regular police pockets and other ropes and stars) as their uniform. I don't know the reason behind it though. I have noticed this during my visit and checked on internet. I noticed the same in "Kahaani" as well. The director would want to bring the same charisma to the movie and he would have noted all these points. But this reminded me of my earlier internet search that "Why police men in Kolkatta" wear white uniform?"

5. Nick name: The police inspector in the movie tells that, generally people in Kolkatta would be having two names. One name with first and sur (last or family) name for certificates and official purpose and second would be pet (or nick) name for calling anybody. Though this is applicable for others as well on minority. I am one among them who has certificate name and nick name which is known to my parents, relatives and close friends!!!

The story of "Kahaani" is good and more than that the location chosen for the movie is very good and it reminded me of my earlier visit and cherish with my memories!!!!!

Back to Back Movies - "Kahaani" and "Agent Vinod"! No doubt, "Kahaani" scores the best!!!

Back to Back Movies - "Kahaani" and "Agent Vinod"!
No doubt, "Kahaani" scores the best!!!

"Agent Vinod":

I saw "Agent Vinod" on day before last-night. I generally like thriller, crime subject movies. "Game", "Dum Maro Dum" and  "Players" are from Abhishek Bachchan's casting which are of my interest type and I liked them. More than recent days movies, I like very old movies of this type.  I did not have much of expectation before going to "Agent Vinod". However, I liked the movie, due to its free-flowing screenplay. I did not feel bore during the entire  movie. The entire time in the theater was running (except for the intermission) without break. The movie was shot in different locations like Russia, London, Latvia (Europe), Somalia, Morocco (Africa), and various places in India like Tamil Nadu (only for small portion and that too famous Ilayaraja song from Maniratnam's movie "Thalapathy" played in the background - "Rakkamma Kaiyathattu"), New Delhi, Gujarat, Mumbai. "SaifAli Khan" has done his best and I would not say that "Kareena Kapoor" has done her best. Though this is male oriented subject, I did not see much of Kareena's part in the movie. On the whole, screenplay is good, story is good and this movie is entertaining!!!!

"Kahaani":

I saw "Kahaani" last night. Before completing the remaining post, I would undoubtedly say, Kahaani scores the best!!! Though the reasons are not only...
     1. "Vidya Balan's" performance
     2. Screenplay and story
     3. Female oriented subject
     4. Portrayal of Kolkatta
     5. Twist in the climax

1. Vidya Balan's Performance:
Nobody will have any doubts about her undoubtedly extreme good performance in this movie. Her performance reminded me of my friend. There are lot of sorrows in her, but the way in which she carried them is really to be appreciated. The walk of a pregnant women tells me that she is firm in her thoughts and activities. The attitude that she showed in the entire movie is definitely shows that she is a matured performer. She is worth for another award.

2.  Screenplay and story:
Of all the thriller movies I have seen so far, this is one of best movies which has very good screenplay and story. There is a clear connectivity of each scene to the next scene.

3. Female oriented subject:
One of veteran film makers is "K. Balachander". I am a great fan of his movies. Out of more than 100 movies, he has penned and directed, most of them are female oriented, controversial and self realization movies. After very long time, I am seeing one such movies which is of female oriented subject (Though Vidya's earlier 4 movies are of either female oriented or female weighted subject)

4. Portrayal of Kolkatta:
I like the way Kolkatta is portrayed in this movie. I would prefer writing them in separate post, as I have some attachment towards Kolkatta. I have been to Kolkatta couple of years before and this movie reminded me of same.

5. Twist in the climax:
Though my friend has hinted me about the climax to little extent, I felt there was a surprise in the climax to greater extent. It was real twist and this climax is one of its kind in thriller movies. I don't want to uncover the story here, as some of you may wanted to see the movie and enjoy it.

Of all the things, Vidya again scored by giving excellent performance! The credit not only goes to Vidya, though, but to director, writer and the entire crew!!!

Well done "Kahaani" crew members!!!

Waiting to watch Vidya's next performance!

Dandiya in cultural capital city - Pune Part 3!

Dandiya in cultural capital city - Pune Part 3!

Dandiya... I have heard this word during my young age and seen this on couple of Tamil movies. And I had a fair idea about Dandiya from my friends during young age. There is also similar culture in Tamil Nadu where it is similar to Dandiya but not exactly. It was originated from village where ladies dance during festival occasion around pots clapping their hands. This dance is known as "Kummiaattam" in Tamil Nadu. I could able to know only from my school Tamil books and Tamil teacher. I spent most of my time in city and never been to village to see them.

I have seen Dandiya in Pune. It was for continuously for more than a week. I finish my dinner every night early and make myself available at the ground where people dance Dandiya.

Gents and ladies finish their day-to-day work and they will be present in the common place for Dandiya. It is the cultural get-together. I feel surprised. Reason for the surprise was and is, how can people take away time for such things. Though, this statement is not valid.

I have done small analysis and I ended up in below statements:
People feel that, they should not leave the culture. This does not mean that people in Tamil Nadu leave the culture. Chennai was once no-man's living place. People migrated from different locations and started settling in Chennai and we are also similar. So, the basic and custom culture is celebrated only in villages. Though, there is celebration in Chennai for important occasions and festivals, the form of celebrations has changed.

There are so many people who originated from Pune and their lineage continued to be in Pune. So they get a chance to follow their culture, one among them is Dandiya. They feel proud and express their attachment towards culture.

Holding and continuing the culture is real identity of any person. That is how, India is represented to other Nations. I will hold my culture as Indian, Tamilian, and of-course good  things will be followed from other states as well!!!!

Though Mumbai is State's capital city and Country's financial capital, but
(I have read somewhere that) Pune is the cultural capital city of Maharashtra.

I am proud to be in Pune!!!

More to continue about Pune!!!!!!

Gadgets, they are only the part and not the part and parcel!!!

Gadgets, they are only the part and not the part and parcel!!!

Laptop and Cellphone were not with me right from day one. Cellphone is in hands of most of the people and laptop is in the hands of most of the college students and professionals very recently.

Cellphone:
After buying office mobile few years before, I was in a situation where I cant move around without cell phone. I dont account the reason to so many apps, internet connection or mainly my favorite qwerty keypad... I dont know. But,  wherever I go, whatever I do, I was not able to leave my cell phone away from me. It was the same situation when I came to  Pune also. I could not detach my cell phone from my vicinity. I still remember that I was restless for a day when I left my phone at my flat and didnt take to office. My thoughts were only in the cell phone and I didnt concentrate on work then. The word addict could be very well used here. I was addicted to my mobile then. If the lines are read, it can be noted that all of them are past tense. I would like to mention that I was addicted.

But my grandfather one day told me, when I went to my home town, why I should be so much addicted to mobile. He told / asked me if mobile was not with, would I feel peaceful for a day? I gave it a thought to what he mentioned. It was not just literal words, but lot of meanings were hidden

My first novel which I read was tamil one, very interesting. It is Kalki's 'Parthiban Kanavu'. If this is searched in net, lots of information would flow. The novel revolves around a king. Whenever I was reading it, I surprised, how people communicated by means of letter through a person, dove etc . But I felt that, they also communicated and their lives were more peaceful than us. This suddently came into my mind and I wanted to restrict myself from my mobile one day. I did so. Wow. It was a great feeling, which made to realise that until, the mobile phones are only for communication and sometimes for net and I need not be addicted towards it. I am totally out of addiction towards mobile phone.

Laptop:
I remember it was few years before, I got the quotation from many shops and evaluated the cost and configuration of my laptop before buying. But it so happened that I started using it very often and it was obvious. I spent most of the time in wikipedia. My cousin used to be in orkut long before. I never liked orkut until one day when I found my school friends on orkut. Got excited from then on. Orkut became nostalgia now and facebook has become my time eater. Until a situation which demanded me to refrain myself from laptop for few days, I didn't do so. The harddisk in the laptop didnt allow to boot and hence it has to be given for service. That was the main reason for me to be without laptop for couple of days.

Situation demanded me being without laptop. Though this statement would be funny, but true. Now I have come out of the addict of being online for long time!

Though, this is known to me that I should not be an addict, but I learnt from the situation. Now I really feel free! I judiciously use them!!!

They are only part of me and not part and parcel of me!!!!

There are two roles to be played to solve problems.
Getting deeper in to the problem - To understand the severity of the problem for arriving at the solution
Staying away from the problem - Viewing the problem from outside - To understand the mildness of the problem for arriving at the other solutions
One has to play dual role always to have solutions for any given problem

Pune City from my view - Part 2!

Pune City from my view - Part 2!

I have earlier mentioned in my post about "Autowala" and "HR".
http://pramnaath.blogspot.in/2012/03/pune-city-from-my-view-part-1.html
This post is the continuation of the above post.

I earlier thought of mentioning about my roommates in this post, however, I wrote "Bachelor life little reloaded" (BLLR). http://pramnaath.blogspot.in/2012/03/bachelor-life-little-reloaded.html separately, because of the content it had in it. I have received comment from one of my friends for BLLR that, "This is not unique experience to me and it is usual among all who comes and stays away from home". I agree with his point. But everyone expresses their view on their own way. I feel that this is one of the ways that I have chosen to express my thoughts (other than discussing with my close friends over phone chat) and I continue to do it. After reading one of my friend's blog only, I was impressed that thoughts can be expressed it blogs like this, and then started to write blogs. I feel blogging unfolds my thoughts and improves narrating the events on my own way.

Blogs:
I started writing posts when I am in Pune. Though it is just a correlation of events and Pune has no say on this, but from my point of view, had I not been in Pune, I would have not got chance to read the post and had it not happened, I would have not started writing here. Bingo!!!!

Shop keeper:
Sorry to mention here! But, I was told that some people from Pune would not help people who come from different state.
But time and again, in my almost 2 years of life at Pune, all the incidents proved that the above statement is wrong, at least with the people, I have met so far. None of them reacted with me in that sense. They were always either helpful or polite. Shopkeeper who stays close to my flat is one among them. Though, what ever I buy would increase his business (may be to small extent, but business is a business), he never showed only business mind. It was kind of feeling from him that I am also his 'fellow human'. I could able to sense this from laundry guy, chicken shop guy, vegetable seller, sugarcane-juice seller, bakery guy, barber, pharmaceutical person, my flat securities (of-course, they are not among shop-keepers). Of all the people, barber is close to my heart, the reason being, he looks at my face, and asks what happened, if he finds that I am tired.

I feel happy to be a part of this society!

Everyday in Life is a learning and adds to the cherishing moments!!!

Interesting conversation with my friend!!!

Of my all my posts, this is little longer (oops longer only) and I somehow managed to  mention all my thoughts what I indented to.

People can discuss ideas, issues, and about fellow human. But most important thing is to how the conversation goes. Is it really helpful to any one of them? Is it really helpful to some one else? 'Helpful' can be a trigger point for self-evolution, new learning's, emotional satisfaction, monitory benefits and anything else. Conversation can pacify the other person, when his mind is disturbed. Conversation can do wonders and it has done wonders!!!
There is always a different angle of looking at it
And it so happened that this statement was again proved to be true today also when I had a conversation with my friend. Though I take the privilege of telling him as my friend, he is my colleague, and one of the most senior persons in the company. The conversation has made me to understand certain things and it has reiterated many things again.

Most of the points discussed would have been already known. But some times, they are not looked upon or they are chosen to be overlooked them due to day-to-day busy schedules.

Take away from the conversation and hints given by him:

#1:

This is one of the most interesting part that he has told me. Though I heard this and do some times, I may not appreciate this statement most of the time. But it all started when I told him that I saw flowers and flowers and leaves are also inside the company.

To be creative spend some time with nature
Observe nature very very slowly every day for few minutes. When we move around and do things in our own speed, consciously make ourselves slower when any nature crosses us or we cross nature. It could be a plant, a tree or an animal or anybody or anything else. Just observe what is in it, like leaf color, water content in the leaf and how the lines in the leaf run.... It was just an example. But the intention is to attach ourselves to nature everyday for sometime.

#2:
Live today most of the time living in "PRESENT"
Few percentage of the day in cherishing about "PAST" good memories and ensuring not to repeat the "PAST" bad events
Few percentage of the day in planning for the "FUTURE"
The percentage of the time could be different from person to person and to be evolved by self. He mentioned that he has thought about this and evolved this himself, though he said that it could be thought by others and its the way of thinking. This is known but when others put forward his points, it will be realized most of the times that it is known!!!

#3:

Not to accept blunder. Mistake happened because of lack of knowledge, because of lack of capability can be accepted and corrected. But blunder happened because of ignorance, because of non-adherence to the system, because of lack of thinking, because of lack of care is not to be accepted.
Not to accept blunder and not to commit blunder
Though, fruitful conversation continued on technical stuffs as well, I felt that the above are worth mentioning it!

Everyday in Life is a learning and adds to the cherishing moments, and today it happened to be learning's and great cherishing moment because of him!!!

Thanks to him!!!

Bachelor life little reloaded!!!

Bachelor life little reloaded!!!

When I came to Pune, my employer has given accommodation for first few days. The accommodation was very good, the guest house neatness, big cot, timely dinner and so many other things. But I felt homely feel was missing and it was really missing. One cant expect homely feel in everything after coming out of home parse... After initial few days, I got shifted to the new flat where my roommates were staying. Before coming to Pune, I told one of my friends that I would be joining him. So, I really need not look for a flat to accommodate myself.

That was my first time outside home but in separate flat with roommates. First ever since bachelor life started. I have seen in movies about the bachelor's room. Movies were not of exaggeration. Though, I was little uncomfortable for initial few days, and I got used to it after some time. But nevertheless, I started giving a new dimension to the house. I still remember. Its worth mentioning here. We changed our flat to the adjacent one. We were four together in double bed room flat. My roommates were very co-operative. They understood the feelings of a new person who came out of home and never been in bachelor house. Though there were very very minor hiccups, and I knew that those cannot be avoided even in family, everything was alright.

The only problem, that we were facing was bedbug. I have heard of a proverb in Tamil, which tells exactly the same thing "Not to shift the house on account of troubles given by bedbug". But we mainly changed because of bed bug which gave us trouble on a periodic cycle.

I liked the new house. It gave a good feeling of being home especially of the big 1st floor garden. So many flowers, variety of plants, wow.. It is really nice to be in this flat. The flat owner is a very good guy. Worth to be mentioned here.

I take pride to mention that the house was kept clean. It never looked like a house where bachelor's are staying. This compliment was given by so many of my colleagues who came to the flat and to add sugar to the context, one of my roommates mother told that she was happy to see a bachelor's flat like ours.

Being away from home, had given me lot of comfort ability in Pune. I learnt cooking, maintaining house cleanly, I developed patience and lot many. Out of all of them, I felt that I have developed lots and lots of patience to handle the situation without really annoying.

All together, I learnt more how to be and how not to be, being in bachelor's life. Learning does not end here, but lot of insight!!

Tribute to my Friend's Love!!!

Tribute to my Friend's Love!!!

People become happy when they get what they wanted for which they waited for a long time!

We like certain events to happen in our life. But due to various circumstances, it does not happen. The results could not be accepted based on the severity of the event.

My friend has chosen whom to love, he could not get concurrence from her parents, rather she could not convince her parents.
His parents had already shown him green signal, long before. They were waiting for a right time to inform and get concurrence from girl's parents' side.

They felt that the right has come in the beginning of last year. Love was told to girl's parents. They denied. My friend and his lover shocked for her parents' denial.

My friend has told me almost all conversation happened with her parents. He was asking for the idea to convince them and he has tried most of them. He was very much particular that, he will not marry her without her parents' permission.

Days passed, months passed. He was trying, trying and trying. I have seen his entire hardships of those days. Though, he has not literally wept, he feelings were almost same. I tried my best to console him.

But today I heard good news from him that the girl's parents accepted their love and Mar 25 is their engagement.

I am very happy to hear it. I am not in a mood to listen what was the conversation, how they accepted and what made them to give green signal... But they have accepted and both of them are going to be engaged on Mar 25. The another happy news is that, Mar 25 is my another close friend's engagement.

I told my friend that I am happy, I am happy. I felt happiness. I know my friend's entire hardships and I again know that he has crossed them and came to a good situation. So my heart is filled with happiness. I will make sure that I attend his wedding.

All the best for his life...

Pune City from my view - Part 1!

Pune City from my view - Part 1!

I have spent most part of my age till now in Chennai only. I had never been out of Tamil Nadu earlier and for first time, I came out of Tamil Nadu to Pune only. Hence, Pune will be always pleasant for my life time.

Autowala:
Though, I have already written my first day experience in Pune, I feel its worth mentioning here as well in two lines. The response and from the "Autowala", who has dropped me from Airport to guest house, made me to feel comfortable and safe. Thanks to him. It is very important for any person to feel so. It so happened that, that "Autowala" was very nice to me.

HR:
Since, Tata is not first employer, I have seen couple of HRs and its the same case that HR also resigns and go to other company, I have interacted with many HRs. But of all the HRs, I have seen and interacted so far, I felt the HR who has sent me offer letter from Tata is the best one. He ensured that all the employees who join are brought under confidence and they don't feel that they have entered place where nobody is known. He is not in Tata now, though. I felt very good. It may be small thing to be good to a new employee, but it makes a very much big difference.

Though, autowala and HR are nothing to do with Pune city (and they are from Pune), but my first entry towards the city was made pleasant by them only. They gave a positive note, obviously one can start from then on confidently.

My 50th Post!!!

My 50th Post!!!

I have started to write post from Oct 2011. Its 5 months from then. This is a new experience that I am experiencing. Blogging is a good experience. It is used to register our thoughts.
I talk to my sister for hours during Sundays. We will be discussing so many topics. She keeps on telling me to write my thoughts. I have discussed most of the posts that I have written, with  my sister.

I was not knowing exactly where to express. However, I came to know from my colleague (friend). I could able to appreciate after reading my friend's post that, thoughts can also be expressed in blogs like this. I thank her for the same.

On an average, I write ~10 per month. However, I keep thinking what next to be written. This makes me to think. Whenever, I think that a particular thought can go as post, and whenever, I open my laptop to post, I, many times, forgot them. So, now a days, I started writing them on a word file in my cell phone and whenever, I get time in the evening, I transfer them to laptop, modify and publish it.

Of all the posts I have written so far, my first post "Being away from home" has the maximum number of views.

Count of 25, 50, 75, 100, 200... would make one happy. I am happy that I have reached 1/2 of 100. I would continue to express my views and thoughts through this form and I continue to do so.

Happy blogging...

Change!

Change!

Though everyone knows, I want to mention this here, as I have experienced this once again today. Regular activity has a procedure. If the procedure is modified to new one, we finds difficult to cope with the new one (till we understand), though we know that it is only for the betterment. But once we are through with the new procedures, we feel very happy with the new one.

#18 I Believe

#18 I Believe
It is not important to convince people to bring them into same page. It is important to be firm on the point. Then automatically, they get convinced at the end.
